Building future leaders in Indonesia

"The [students] become a great target when employers hear of Future Leaders, a guarantee that they have skills that are not in most of the other programs. The area of study, and the skills they have now, is making them ready, not just as an apprentice, but as distinctly different to other applicants… " — Programme facilitator

XL Axiata, a major telecommunications company, wanted to provide a leadership programme for university students to support them become future leaders and contribute towards improved social and economic outcomes across the nation. Since 2013 close to 400 young people have engaged with the programme and have contributed to the learning and development of hundreds of people through youth-led community initiatives. In addition, an e-curriculum programme is available for students in more remote regions. They are able to self-manage their learning through a one year on-line course.
